Jeleen Guttenberg has extensive experience with the Title I aspects of ERISA. Ms. Guttenberg's focus is on advising financial clients about compliance with the fiduciary duties requirements of ERISA and avoidance of violations of the prohibited transactions rules under ERISA, as well as developing strategies when financial clients are involved in ERISA litigation.
Ms. Guttenberg shares her expertise with our litigation group and other practice groups as issues arise. Prior to joining us, Ms. Guttenberg spent over ten years with Skadden, Arps, Slate, Meagher & Flom LLP, where her practice focused on compliance with Title I of ERISA. She has advised financial clients (including asset managers, hedge fund managers, banks, and insurance companies) regarding how to structure their financial products to gain investment attraction from retirement plans, and drafted ERISA disclosure for securities and debt offerings.
Ms. Guttenberg also advised clients of their fiduciary duties under ERISA and how to comply with ERISA's prohibited transaction rules. She worked with the Department of Labor as needed on behalf of clients under investigation or clients who were seeking advisory opinions or individual exemptions from prohibited transaction rules. Ms. Guttenberg has also worked in the area of executive compensation and employee benefits.
