Fun Fact

  • Was program director of WDIA radio in Memphis, TN prior to his practice of law. On August 16, 1977 Mr. Frisby received a tip through a news informant saying “we’ve just taken Elvis to the hospital and I’m telling you he’s dead” and he had to immediately decide whether his station should or would announce Elvis’ death without further corroboration. Mr. Frisby decided to immediately interrupt regular programming and make the announcement himself rather than subjecting a news announcer or disc jockey to the ridicule that would result if the report of the king's death was wrong. Fortunately for Mr. Frisby, but unfortunately for Mr. Presley, the tip turned out to be true.  As a result, Mr. Frisby believes he is the first person in the world to publicly announce the death of Elvis Presley.
