Timothy Lanni

Of Counsel / NEW YORK

A former state and federal prosecutor, Timothy is an accomplished trial attorney with extensive experience in litigating complex matters, managing sensitive investigations, and advising local, state, and federal agencies as well as community partners. As a former Assistant United States Attorney, Timothy led hundreds of investigations combating international drug trafficking, fighting organized crime, prosecuting homicide and violent crimes, and probing financial crimes. As a lead prosecutor, he organized and oversaw large multi-agency task forces and coordinated efforts between state and local prosecutor’s offices, numerous United States Attorney’s Offices, and the Department of Justice. Timothy has tried 25 jury trials to verdict. He is equally comfortable in the boardroom conducting confidential investigations, in the field containing emergencies, and on his feet in the courtroom.

Timothy was selected to lead the Western District of Pennsylvania’s Project Safe Neighborhoods initiative, a nationwide anti-violence coalition. Timothy also led the Western District of Pennsylvania’s groundbreaking Opioid Overdose Task Force and also served as a member of his office’s Critical Response Incident Plan team leading a combined law enforcement response to serious emergencies, terrorism, environmental disasters, and mass shootings, including Pittsburgh’s Tree of Life Shooting in 2018.

As an Assistant United States Attorney, Timothy was the lead prosecutor on numerous complex and high profile matters. He helped to dismantle an international drug trafficking organization connected to the Sinloa Cartel. During the height of the opioid crisis in Western Pennsylvania, Timothy led one of the largest seizures of fentanyl in Pennsylvania history and also shut down a family run drug trafficking organization responsible for dozens of opioid related overdoses and deaths. He coordinated a nationwide law enforcement effort to thwart an interstate murder for hire scheme. He also prosecuted the attempted extortion and armed robbery of two undercover FBI agents. Most recently, at trial, Timothy successfully prosecuted the leader of an illegal fentanyl production facility and members of an interstate organized armed robbery and home invasion ring.

With his deep experience in state and federal court, Timothy is available to help clients at any stage of litigation, especially trial. He is also available to assist clients with government and internal investigations of any nature.
